This joke is really funny in French, but it probably won’t translate…here goes anyway.
A restaurant is right across from a cemetary. Since they’re struggling for business, they decide on a marketing ‘coup’ and put up a big sign on their restaurant front that reads “DON’T GO ACROSS THE STREET, THEY HAVE A HIGH MORTALITY RATE”
The restaurant owners are happy with their witty new ad campaign and cheerfully ignore the complaints of the cemetary owners who don’t think that low blow regarding their line of work is very funny.
The next day, they decide to retaliate and put up a big sign in front of their cemetary that reads: “DON’T EAT ACROSS THE STREET; THAT’S WHERE MOST OF OUR CURRENT TENANTS JUST CAME FROM!”
