Pointe-Noire has grown exponentially the last few years, and it’s a small town to begin with, so all the demand has exceeded the available real estate. An unsuspecting buyer may very well be offered a plot of land that already has a rightful owner. Some people have even bought such properties only to be sorely disappointed when the legal owner, recently informed of the con, rushes to reclaim his or her property.
All this to introduce this picture, a common sight in Pointe-Noire these days. Owners regularly send someone to repaint the lone wall erected on their property that reads in large lettering “THIS PROPERTY IS NEITHER FOR SALE NOR FOR LEASE”
I like this one because it has the added vague threat “ATTENTION!” which really translates as “Be careful”, with the Lingala translation “Keba!”
